The Incredible Rice Brothers Return to Gold Canyon
The Performing Arts Series of Gold Canyon United Methodist Church again presents the incredible Rice Brothers – Chris and Johnny – on Sunday, March 6 at 2:00 pm. Both brothers are virtuosos on both piano and cello! They have toured Europe, and throughout the United States. Both Johnny and Chris received the Gold Medal Award in subsequent years at the prestigious Corpus Christi International Chopin Competition and have performed in Carnegie Hall.
The Rice Brothers will perform on the church’s 9’3” Petrof Mistral Concert Grand – the actual prototype for Petrof’s new Mistral Series of Grand pianos. Petrof, located in the Czech Republic, is Europe’s largest piano manufacturer, and has been producing pianos since 1864. Additionally, they will perform on their own cellos.
Their performances are an exciting mix of various genres and will certainly provide something great for everyone! Doug Benton, the church’s Director of Music Ministries says, “These young, true virtuosi will not only ‘blow your mind,’ they will explode it with incredible technical facility – on both instruments – and outstanding musicianship! Each concert is really a visual and auditory tour of great music and places with interesting descriptions of the music and the history behind the works. Bring your family, friends and neighbors. They will be very glad you did!
This program is open to the public at no charge as a freewill offering will be received. Everyone is asked to please bring at least one non-perishable food item per person for the GCUMC Food Bank. For more information, please contact the church at 480-982-3776.
