Heart for Worship

Worship can’t compete with some activities. We can find more exciting programs on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Video. In terms of excitement, sports might be more exciting than worship. There are many activities that we could participate in that are way more exciting than attending a worship service. So many people skip worship, no realizing what they are missing.

Returning to Give Thanks

One key to deal with the stress and worries of today is to focus on what we are thankful about. Thanksgiving day is not a one day occurrence. It is a daily remembrance of all the blessings we have been given. In this message we will use an old tool to refocus our life around giving thanks.

Grumbling or Gratitude

In 1 Thessalonians 5:16 we are told to give thanks in all circumstances. That is hard to stomach. It’s hard to believe we should give thanks for cancer, death of a child, war or other tragedies. Fortunately there is one word that clarifies the whole issue and makes this verse extremely helpful.

Sustaining Joy

Being thankful is not enough. There is one more step to take. One more step that makes it real. Jesus pointed this out after he healed ten lepers and only one returned to thank him. What was different about the one?
